Our Story

'The Five Pillars of Health & Vitality'

Activity, Nutrition, Sleep, Stress, Social Connection

My wife, Kit, and I, Marty, built My Vitality Kit from our own journey to vibrant health. We both grew up incredibly active—rugby, swimming, surfing, you name it! This active lifestyle was our foundation, but as life evolved, we realised physical activity, while crucial, is only one piece of the puzzle. Initially, we relied solely on activity to manage stress and boost well-being, often pushing ourselves too hard. This led to burnout. 😓

Our perspectives shifted dramatically as our careers progressed. My studies in physical education and Kit's in physiotherapy deepened our understanding of holistic health. Then came parenthood—four children to be exact! Suddenly, even with our focus on activity and nutrition, we were struggling. Sleep deprivation, overwhelming stress, and limited social time chipped away at our vitality. The birth of our third child was a turning point. Kit's deep dive into sleep science and my parental leave (with its own set of stressors!) helped us prioritize sleep and stress management. We became obsessed with learning—meditation, breathwork, gratitude practices—anything to improve our well-being. The Covid lockdowns, while challenging, unexpectedly provided space for focused learning. We emerged with a comprehensive toolkit for managing stress and cultivating vitality. Finally, the importance of a strong support network—our cherished community—became crystal clear. This became the fifth pillar: social connection.

Our journey, filled with both challenges and triumphs, led us to create My Vitality Kit. We distilled our years of learning into a practical, accessible program, so you can experience the abundant vitality that's your birthright. We're using the Everfit platform to guide you through these five pillars.

Key Takeaways from Our Journey:

  • Holistic health is more than just fitness.
  • Prioritize sleep, stress management, and social connection alongside activity and nutrition.
  • Continuous learning and self-improvement are key.
  • Building a supportive community is essential.
